- Boi Bumba - is the most popular and largest festival in the region of Parintins, a place situated in the northeast of Brazil. It is traditionally held on the last three days of the last weekend of June. Boi Bumba portrays the death and resurrection of an ox and presents famous performances by Caprichoso and Garlanded. They will present a pageant of fantastic sights and sounds that you can never see outside the region.
- Gualeguaychu Carnival - it is considered as one of the largest carnivals in Argentina annually held every Saturday of January and February. This is a great destination for a side trip if you are in Buenos Aires. Colorful costumes and amazing floats are the few highlights of the said event. Gualeguaychu Carnival is a widely known event for tourists around the world. This is also where comparsas (groups of people dancing lively music and clad in multihued outfits) and murgas (street musicians) parade along the thoroughfares of Argentina.
- Festival de Viña del Mar - one of the longest running festivals held every year in Chile. Festival de Viña del Mar features international movies and short film competitions, which is recognized throughout Latin America and in the world of cinema. This international film event in the country is participated by different finest performers of Chile and Latin Stars. The venue for this biggest event is in Municipal Theater, a 1930’s edifice fashioned in classical style with more than a thousand seating capacities, balconies and stalls.
- Carnival of Black and Whites - celebrated in Pasto, Colombia every year from January 4 to January 6. The carnival attracts huge number of locals and foreign travelers all over the world. It consists of four excellent phases namely the pre-carnival, Castaneda Family arrival, and the day of the blacks and the day of the whites. This carnival is deemed as the most ancient festival in South America with origins date back to Spanish period. Multicolored and massive floats will parade on the streets during the celebration of Black and Whites.
- Saint Blaise’s Day - an occasion held in honor of Saint Blaise, the patron saint in Paraguay. It is celebrated on 3 February. The event is attended by myriads of followers throughout the country. Saint Blaise’s Day is highlighted with masses and often speeches by public officials. It is one of the most celebrated traditional festivities where faithful gather to implore favor to the saint.
- San Benito el Moro - a highly anticipated feast held during Christmas week and New Year’s Day. The feast is celebrated for San Benito el Moro or St. Benedict the Moor, the patron saint of the locals in Lake Maracaibo. There are various music performances at the end of the feast to make the whole revelry fun and exciting.
- Inti Rayme - simply known as Festival of the Sun, Inti Rayme was a religious ceremony during the Inca Empire in honor of the god of sun-- Inti. In addition, Inti is an important God in the culture of Inca. This one of the biggest and most impressive celebrations in Peru is flocked by thousands of local and international tourists. Inti Rayme features remarkable ceremony, in which two llamas, a domesticated longhaired South American animal related to camels are sacrificed. Most of the presentation during Inti Rayme takes place in the beautiful place of Sacsayhuaman.
- Fiesta Gaucha - experience old-fashioned cowboy festival in Tacuarembo, in northern Uruguay. It is held every year on the second week of March. Fiesta Gaucha is one of the biggest revelry in South America, with around 3000 horses participating. This particular fiesta lets spectators enjoy amazing equestrian events including bareback rodeos, lassoing events and complete costumed parades. During this event, you can also sample the delectable foods in the country. Furthermore, tons of fun activities for old and young people are in store.
